( he doesn't have many close confidantes and his resident witch (and friend) isn't here, also, she's dead. so, he's casting a bit of a wide net. but stephen seems sane. enough. )
In your world, is a werewolf bite fatal to a vampire?
This isn't public knowledge, but you seem like the most sane source of magic we have in here at the moment, and I appreciated our conversation.
In our world, my brother was bitten by a werewolf. Vampires bitten have forty-eight hours before they become rabid and then bedridden. The manor seems to be stretching out his symptoms. He only recently told me so I don't know how much time we have. But, the antidote... isn't accessible. It acts like an infection.
[ There's no delay. The prospective patient may not quite fit within the scope of his medical training, but between his two sets of expertise, he can do his best to figure this out. ]
What is the antidote, ordinarily? What kind of symptoms, and how long has your brother been experiencing them?
just an fyi, stefan's going all out to help damon, but nothing will work. he's good 2 try!
The blood of the Original hybrid. Part vampire-part werewolf. He's unavailable.
He's been in pain. Veins protrude from the bite as the venom moves through his system. Night sweats. Eventually, he's going to start to hallucinate. Without my knowledge, he's been experiencing the symptoms all month.
rip damon!!! (and sorry in advance stefan) also cw: end of life-adjacent medical refs
[ Yep, that's a pretty significantly out of reach antidote. A slight stretch of non-response here before the three dots start bouncing away in the corner of the text window. ]
And what does it mean when a vampire becomes rabid?
[ Because there's a strong potential the only care available to them now is palliative. And while he'll suggest what he can for the patient, there's also the matter of what risk of harm the patient might pose to everyone else if the journey from one state to the next has already been slowed this significantly. ]
almost!!!! (stefan's going to give him the cure!!!!)
( In more ways than one and he doesn't need anyone else on anyone's radar. )
Hallucinations set in. He becomes bloodthirsty. It usually lasts an hour, if that, and then he goes downhill from there. Quickly, he loses energy. And from there, all that's left is compassion.
I know dying here can bring side effects of its' own and I'd like to prevent them on Damon's behalf.
If it gets bad and he'll let me close I can offer temporary pain management. I'll try to work on a more permanent solution if you want me to, but I'd need blood and information. And more time than you might have.
[ What he feels compelled to say next is not the kindest thing to have to say to someone who's reaching out for help, but - ]
I could also ward his room. If there's a chance the bloodthirst might stretch as long as the rest of the symptoms have done.

You're going to have to narrow it down.

In my world, I've never knowingly met either. I take it something's happened?

YES !!!
I'm not against having to keep him inside, but I'll let you know if we hit that point. He promised to tell me when that part set in.
