He’s told me I’m to stay with you since he has no interest in taking care of me.

He's concerned that the two of you spending too much time with one another isn't healthy for either of you.

Which is why I told him I’d live on my own. Have things legally settled on paper while I handled the rest.

Apparently though I need a good role model and someone powerful enough to keep up with me.

I've told him you'll have to wait until I have somewhere outside the Diadem before I consider it in earnest, and I wanted to speak with you first. There's no use in my taking you in if it's going to be a battle to keep you there.

Besides increased monthly outgoings and a lodger who may or may not prove to be respectful of the house rules?

The knowledge that you'll have access to resources that should reduce the need for you to make dangerous decisions.

And a few extra headaches, no doubt.

If you're asking if this ties in to duty, it's a vocation not an obligation, but I don't believe you're a risk insofar as an immediate nosedive into supervillainy's concerned. So, no.

If I agree, it'll be because he asked nicely, and because I decide the benefit to your safety and the safety of others outweighs the potential for my discomfort.

Stephen, tell me why I should want to stay with an adult who claims I threaten the safety of others, not to mention the implications that I will cause headaches, discomfort, etc.

You will cause headaches. You're a kid and a Loki, and I'm used to living alone. We're going to butt heads. So for the most part I'm going to assume you know how to handle yourself and leave you to it, and when you want my help you can ask for it.

[ And when he needs it he'll get it whether he likes it or not. ]

You're young and your magic is unrefined. Under supervision you can hone it. Without that supervision, there's no guarantee it won't eventually get the better of you in ways you don't expect. You're not an intentional threat, but you are a potential danger if you don't give yourself the space to learn.

I don't know you. I met the Loki of my Earth for a grand total of thirty seconds. And what I think of your older self is none of your business.

If you're asking if I have any Loki-related prejudice, my universe's Loki did some significant damage in my world and has since shown great capacity for change. I've been given few reasons to think ill of you since and plenty of reasons to think better.

The other option is that you genuinely dislike him as a person, not as a Loki, and you didn't wish to share this with me.
