I'm working on a redesign. Right now, we have people who want to help, who can help, but doing so risks exposure of us all. Not everyone wants to be associated with Morningstar, and not everyone should be, either. Fury always said that there were people who could be more, if we could only get them out front.
[ there was an idea, he said, to bring together a remarkable group of people. and he believed in it enough to invest his own money into the project. ]
The problem is that we're locked into the helmet design, at present. I need a keen pair of eyes, with neurological expertise, to help rework it. For the moment, I want to integrate it with a suit for one of our fellow Displaced to field test and then, in the long run, make the tech less conspicuous. Think something small and wearable, like a bracelet.
In general, I've got projects of all kinds that will require neural tech integration on the horizon, just out of my reach.
[ it's work dr radcliffe and his transhumanists would likely adore. fitz isn't sure how he feels about it. ]
I need someone who knows the essentials of the science already and is willing to do whatever they can to master it.
[ it's a carrot on a stick: neurological research with practical applications. a use for his mind.
it hardly needs to be presented as a request when it's already a gift. but you don't dangle the carrot out over the donkey's head expecting it to say no, thanks. so what does he think? honestly, fitz. ]
I think it's going to take quite some work to take a mask that physically encases the implant and replicate the functional result in a comparatively remote device. But since we seem to have an abundance of time...
[ the first development seems to be the sort of breeze he's already looking beyond. in case you didn't already know your answer. ]
Then welcome aboard. We've a crack team of engineers on side already. Rey, Abel, Jaqobis, Guevara, Teller, Parker.
[ a beat. ]
I want a suit for someone to test. See if we can integrate the tech into that first — and how much attention a vigilante with Morningstar's signature anonymisation gets.
absolutely no chance that the peter parker who matches his mental image of peter parker has been here long enough to gain fitz' trust and involve himself in a project of this depth without Stephen ever knowing he was here. it's not possible. he's just too loud. so. ]
We haven't met.
[ do I want to meet this one or will I be Just As Tired ]
[ well, for fitz. hope strange likes chaotic nerd energy and dorky names for dangerous weaponry... ]
I'll let you know when we have our first potluck. Been putting out feelers for equipping us with transport, too, given that you and Markus have got us a bloody garage. Reckon Guevara's on it, at least, and damn good. Plenty of people have been keen before, too.
And please, Markus gets all the credit. The fewer people know my name's on the deed the fewer people I'll have to talk to when we start falling out over shelf space. Parker?
[ this is an acquaintance he hasn't made but also, unlike other unmade acquaintances, a name that stands out. and surely not. but it bears asking. ]

I had a feeling you might know him better than me.

Bit scruffy, but I like him.

He's good company for the over thirties club.

Wouldn’t sell yourself short. Heard you handled the Daisy and Kovacs incident from Hafid.
