The program of opening the gates, I'd assume.
This is strange. This can't be Ball's people -- he gave us the locations in good faith, waited this long.
All of our guides at Everest have the same tattoos though as the festival organizers.

Ball's people or not, they knew the plans that had been made and where to find those of us who stayed behind. If we're dealing with Ball, he has more influence than we anticipated. If not, someone with significant scope is in play.

Either way, you need to be watchful of the strangers with you.

Why does everyone act like I don't know how to look after myself? I've only done it every day of my life.

You told me to take care of myself when I'm safe at my place of work in New Amsterdam. You're on your way up a perilous mountain, possibly in the company of people willing and able to sedate, abduct, and transport you half way across the world to embark on another expedition at gunpoint. I don't think it's necessarily a reflection on your competency of self-preservation to ask you to take care too.
